ROI & Optimizing Ad Performance (MKT 250 W10 Reflection)
This week I started my ad campaign and I have it set to run for 18 days. I am a bit nervous, but I think it’s going well so far. I like to look at my Google Analytics and see if people are visiting my site. It’s amazing how much data is being collected right now. I’m not sure about how everything works or what it means, but I just know that some people are actually visiting my site because there are numbers! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to collect any data because I was afraid that my ads wouldn’t work, but they are. It is kind of exciting!
We were learning about how to optimize our ad performance this week as well. One of the activities was to check our keywords and see if we needed to change any for our searches to work better. I paused one of my keywords because Google recommended that I do because of the low search quality. I think Google is pretty amazing that way. In fact, there were many other recommendations I could take to increase my optimization score. I didn’t know what they all meant or how I would do them, so I just did the keyword recommendation. After I collect the data from this week, I may even change them more next week. I guess we’ll see what the data tells me.
We also learned about tracking conversions. Conversions
mean actions you want visitors to your site to make. My conversion I want to
track is if anyone books a cabin. I’m not sure if this was the best choice since
the cabins aren’t ready to rent out right now. They will be by the middle of
May, but maybe people aren’t thinking that far ahead at this point. I’m pretty
sure I won’t get any conversions, but if people just visit the site and are
aware of our cabins, maybe when they get closer to being open, we’ll get some
bookings.
