The Last Post


I made it! Yay! I am really glad that I was able to do all the hard things the course had in store for me. This was a difficult semester with this and my other classes, but look at how I was able to complete it! The things I learned from this course helped me to realize that I can do difficult things if I take it one step at a time. Remember we don’t have to do it all at once, one baby step at a time will get us to our destination. Looking back in my notes, I noticed that this class had 4 goals, one of which was to choose good habits. I think that is the thing that resonated most with me with this entire course, is working on choosing and implementing good habits that I can apply throughout my life. The book Launching Leaders had a lot of advice on good habits that will help a person achieve their goals. What I loved about these habits is that they aren’t hard, they are simple in nature, one is getting up early. However, these habits will give great returns on the investment of working on them. In another book we read, Mastery, the habit of practicing was reinforced, which will lead a person to greatness in their chosen goal if they continue practicing. I would say to anyone who is wanting to begin an entrepreneurial journey is to make sure you practice good habits throughout your journey. Make sure you balance your life the best you can, in personal, family, health, and spiritual goals. Make the steps to your goal one at a time and remember that you will eventually get there. It’s okay to fail, just pick yourself up and continue on. Remember to set your ethical guardrails and always stay between them. That will lead to happiness in the long run. What is the secret of a successful entrepreneur? It is a person who shows up day after day, year after year. When you stay the course, you will be successful. I think one last thing that is important to remember to be successful is to involve the Lord. He will help you be able to overcome your challenges and help make you who you are meant to be. Remember to trust God and believe in good things to come.

I enjoyed learning about Randy Pausch achieving his childhood dreams this week. Some of his dreams didn’t turn out the way he planned, but that is what course correction is for. I think that he was able to find success in many of his childhood dreams because first of all, he wrote them down. Landing Page Optimization & Basic SEO (MKT 250 W11 Reflection)

  This week I learned about how to optimize my landing page. The most important thing is to make it user friendly and easy to find the info offered in the ad that led the user to my site. I feel like my landing page is pretty user friendly. I’ve also worked on making the mobile version look good and easy to find what the user is looking for. I’ve noticed that most people who find my ad are on a mobile device.   One of the strategies for optimizing websites was putting testimonials on your website. I think it’s a great idea and I can’t wait till we can add testimonials to our site. We are very close to being finished on the inside of the cabins, and once the furniture gets here, we will be able to rent the cabins out. Relevance & Quality Score (MKT 250 W09 Reflection)

     This week we learned about Quality Score and how it can help you to improve your keywords and website. I learned that this score is the way Google shows more useful ads in higher positions in a search. The better the Quality Score, the higher my ad will be when my keywords are searched. This score can also help me figure out what I need to do to improve user experience with my ad and website because it’s based on expected CTR, ad relevance, and landing page experience. So, if the score is low, I can fix one of these three things to help improve my score. Obviously, I want my ads to appear at the top of the search page, so I’ll be paying close attention to what my score is.      This week I also worked on installing Google Analytics onto my website. I can’t believe how long it took to figure out what I was doing. I finally figured it out and I think I did it correctly.
